This section presents an interview study exploring the contextual aspects shaping music listening in offices. The quantitative and qualitative data from the survey study and the intervention study suggested factors that appeared to be important in the experience of listening to music at work, and by conducting this interview study, I was able to look at these issues in more depth.

For example, IT and HR managers were included in the interviews and were asked to explain their views, as managers, of employees listening to music at work. Aspects of individual listening patterns were also explored in more depth, such as the relationship between the functions of music and activities carried out concurrently.
